The Bookseller – Rights – Carnival presents two more books by 20-minute vegan Calum Harris

Calum Harris, 26, whose book The 20-Minute Vegan was a bestselling cooking debut in 2023 and has signed a two-book deal with Carnival at Quarto. Eleanor Maxfield acquired world rights from Anna Dixon at YMU.

His first carnival title, Really healthya nutrition-focused, plant-based cookbook, is scheduled to be published in January 2025.

Recipes include Harris’ “Pretend You’re in LA” smoothie bowl, rainbow noodle jars with ginger basil, a tempeh taco bowl with chipotle cream, and his pistachio orange semolina cake.

Harris said: “I loved writing the first book and I’m very happy to get the chance to do it again with Eleanor at Quarto. For me, writing a cookbook has to offer the reader a solution to their cooking problems, but also tell a story within each recipe. If the idea doesn’t inspire me, then I don’t write. This second book of mine, Really healthyis the most exciting thing I’ve ever been to do anything. I can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Maxfield said: “I have always wanted to publish Calum’s books and have long admired his market awareness and drive. We are delighted to be supporting him at Carnival and look forward to putting together an exciting roster of titles showcasing his ‘always delicious, never boring’ food. We can’t wait to launch this clever cookbook that will help you create your meals and meet your nutritional needs with ease.”

Harris began preparing vegan dishes on Instagram in 2019 and amassed thousands of followers before Bluebird at Pan Macmillan signed him for his first cookbook in 2022.
