Sony’s Netflix series Horizon reportedly not making any progress

The Netflix series based on PlayStation’s Horizon series will reportedly not be continued by the streaming giant.

The project, developed by Umbrella Academy showrunner Steve Blackman, has reportedly stalled, according to Rolling Stone.

This reporting was part of a larger article that accused the showrunner of “toxic, tyrannical, manipulative and vindictive behavior.”

It is unclear whether the series will continue with another creative partner or if the project has been abandoned altogether.

“Horizon Zero Dawn is an exceptionally well-made game with wonderful characters that you don’t often see in the mainstream gaming world,” Blackman said at the time of the show’s announcement.

“Guerrilla Games has created an incredibly lush and vibrant world of man and machine on a collision course with oblivion.

“Her salvation comes in the form of a young warrior named Aloy, who has no idea she holds the key to saving the world. Suffice it to say, yes, Aloy will be a major character in our story. My writing partner Michelle Lovretta and I are excited to expand this remarkable intellectual property into a series for all types of viewers.”

Sony is also currently working with Amazon on a TV adaptation of God of War.

There are currently several Horizon video game projects in development.

Lego Horizon Adventure will be released later this year for PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Guerrilla confirmed that it plans to expand “the world of Horizon” with an online co-op project, “with a new cast of characters and a unique, stylized look.”

This followed a report from VGC that the Dutch studio was planning an online spin-off in addition to a planned trilogy of Horizon games.

A Horizon Zero Dawn remaster is also reportedly in development for the PS5, and Lineage and Guild Wars studio NCSoft is said to have signed a deal with Sony to develop a Horizon MMORPG.
