Stop the turnover

Stop the turnover

(By Chris Stonick) Does your department have a turnover problem? It could be because of what you’re doing…or what you’re not doing. As a manager, it’s important to recognize that many people leave because they don’t feel valued. In reality, this is a solvable situation.

Consistent recognition is key. Most managers/owners think it’s a good idea to recognize employees, but they aren’t consistent in their approach. They recognize people when they feel like it and miss other important opportunities.

I always tell my stations the same thing: Honor EVERYONE on every work anniversary. And do it not only in your four walls, but also on the air. By honoring your employees on anniversaries, you create equal opportunities. Whether it is their first year or their thirtieth, they will be honored!

With an Employee of the Month award, you only recognize one person per month, so 12 per year. And if someone wins more than once, that number drops even further.

Increase your recognition and boost your morale and retention rate!
