The Millersburg Food Run starts at 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 28th along the Holmes County Trail in Millersburg.

The Millersburg Food Run 10K, 5K and 1 mile races were created in 2018 to help the Millersburg Seventh-day Adventist Church meet the needs of Holmes County families. Proceeds from the run are donated to the Love Center Food Pantry.

“It’s exciting to see how the race has grown since we started,” said Eva Durbin, race director. “Every year we have more participants and new sponsors – which means we’ve been able to raise more money for the Love Center. It’s really thanks to the support of the community that the race has grown so much.”

Since the race began in 2018, $17,560 has been raised for the Love Center.

The Love Center Food Pantry has been serving the needs of Holmes County since 1986. Nearly 1,000 families utilize the food bank, which processes over 660,000 pounds of food annually.

Director Edgar Raber of the Love Center Food Pantry points out that the food bank can purchase large quantities of food from the Akron-Canton Foodbank at lower prices than the supermarket, so monetary donations have more impact than donated food. The Christian agency is supported by businesses and churches throughout Holmes County.

About the race

There will be competitive, professionally timed 5K and 10K courses, as well as a non-competitive 1-mile course. The 1-mile race will have a child entry fee so the whole family can participate. Runners, joggers, walkers – all are welcome.

The race is an out-and-back course on a flat, paved path that begins at the Hipp Station Depot, 62 N. Grant St., near downtown Millersburg and runs through wooded areas and fields along the Holmes County Trail.

After the race there will be a drinks and snack stand for the participants and all participants will receive a medal, a goodie bag and a ticket for the gift basket raffle.

T-shirts will be given away on a first come, first served basis. Gift baskets will be donated by companies such as AutoZone Auto Parts, E&H Ace Hardware, Heini’s Cheese, Long Lane Woodworks and Star Brite Car Wash.
