“Recording voiceovers for an animated film is one of my favorite things to do because you have to do everything with your voice. You end up making a bit of a fool of yourself to understand what the character is going through.” Joey told FilmFare. “You can’t be afraid to put in the effort to make it resonate in your voice. The freedom to let go and not worry about how you look is what I love most, especially when I get to play a character as funny, over-the-top, yet lovable as Poppy. I can really let loose, do wild things, and there’s no wrong way to do it.”

She continued: “Poppy’s voice is different from mine because I added a cute little lisp to her voice, which is my favorite thing about the character. I love when kids try to be serious and say something in that innocent, childlike voice, and in Poppy’s case, her lisp. And even though it wasn’t really my intention, her lisp somehow makes her seem even more terrifying.”
