Travis Kelce reveals it was his idea to perform at Taylor Swift’s show – and that his biggest fear was dropping her

Travis Kelce has revealed that it was his idea to perform at his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show in London – and that his biggest fear was dropping her during her dance routine.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end posed as one of the singer’s backing dancers during her performance at Wembley Stadium on June 23. Dressed in a top hat and tails, he lifted Swift up and carried her across the stage during her song “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart,” which requires her to be “resurrected” from the dead for the performance.

“I was up there with three pros. You can’t go wrong with Taylor on stage. (I kept telling myself): ‘Don’t drop the baby. Hold on to it,'” he told his brother Jason Kelce in the last episode of their New heights Podcast, adding that he was also determined “not to screw this up.”

“I first mentioned it to Tay,” he said, about the possibility of appearing on one of her shows. “I thought, ‘How fun would it be if I just rode off on one of the bikes in the 1989 era.'”

According to the football player, Swift initially thought he was joking before asking him, “‘Would you seriously be willing to do something like that?'”

Travis admitted he was quick to agree to the idea, noting how familiar he was with the show, having seen it so many times. “I was like, ‘What? I’d love to do that, are you serious? I’ve seen the show enough times – I might as well get in line here,'” he said. “And sure enough, she found the perfect part of the show for me to be a part of.”

Although he originally planned to ride a bike, he ended up wearing a tuxedo and top hat on stage. “There was no bike in case I bumped into someone or hit one of the dancers or something,” Travis explained. “It was the safest option.”

During their number, Kelce was also seen powdering Swift’s face and performing some dance moves that he admitted were inspired by Jim Carrey from the movie “Dumb and Dumber.”

“I’ve always wanted to do this move, but I never knew when to do it when it makes sense,” he said. “It’s one of my favorite moves of all time!”

He explained how much he enjoyed the experience, praising Swift’s artistic abilities and calling her “a true showman.”

“It was an absolute blast,” Travis said. “It was such a fun, playful part of the show and it was like … the perfect time for me to go up there and just do theater and have fun – not only with (Swift) … but with the audience and really try to get everyone pumped up for the rest of the show. It was great.”

In the podcast episode, the Chiefs player also talked about how shocked he was by the crowd’s reaction to his performance.

“When everyone found out it was me – because it took a second for everyone to realize it – that moment was pretty jarring. I was like, ‘Oh, shit,'” he said. “And you don’t realize how big that damn stage is. It’s easily the size of a football stadium… it’s way bigger than I could have ever imagined.”

“But no, it was great. And I didn’t disappoint Taylor, that’s all that really matters.”
