Three Michigan players are in the first round of ESPN’s latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft

Three Michigan players are in the first round of ESPN’s latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft

We haven’t even reached conference media days yet, but people are already looking ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft. Michigan is coming off a record-breaking draft year, with 13 players selected in 2024. With the talent still in Ann Arbor, it’s no surprise the guys are getting attention.

Here’s the latest mock draft, this one from ESPN’s Matt Miller.

Will Johnson, No. 3 pick – Denver Broncos

Of those players, Will Johnson is selected third and ends up with the Denver Broncos. He is the first defensive player selected in the mock, which would be quite an accomplishment for the soon-to-be junior.

Miller had this to say:

“Johnson’s footage from his first two seasons at Michigan is some of the best footage of a cornerback I’ve ever seen. The 6-foot-2 playmaker is most comparable as a college prospect to Pat Surtain II, who he would face in this scenario in Denver. Johnson has seven career interceptions, he’s an active tackler and he has the size and speed to shut down receivers.”

Broncos head coach Sean Payton is still building his team in Denver. The franchise drafted Bo Nix this season and brought in Zach Wilson to fix some of their offensive issues. This year, the Broncos have lost some of their key players in the secondary, so recruiting an elite player at that position would be a good move.

Mason Graham, No. 7 pick – Minnesota Vikings

Miller also ranked Graham in the top 10 and predicted he would join JJ McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings. Here’s what Miller said about Graham’s skills:

“…Graham is a serious contender for the title of the best prospect in the class. His stats won’t blow you away, thanks to Michigan’s rotation and defensive line assignments – he had three sacks in 2023 – but Graham’s explosiveness and power jump out at you.”

Graham’s presence on the field makes a difference, even if he’s not the one making the play. Last season, he missed some time due to injury and played with a stick on his hand, but still finished the year as a sophomore with 35 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble. It’s not hard to imagine his stats improving with more playing time in 2024.

Colston Loveland, No. 14 pick – Indianapolis Colts

Finally, Miller drafted Loveland as the first tight end selected in the top 15 in the draft. Here’s what he said about Loveland:

“…Loveland will be a top-10 player on my preseason list thanks to his ability as a receiver and excellent run blocking. He caught 45 passes for four scores in Michigan’s run-heavy offense last season, and the 6-5 junior has outstanding agility and speed in the open field as a receiver.”

Michigan’s offense had a lot of experience and talent on the field in 2023, and Loveland was no exception. With the departure of wide receivers Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson, players like Tyler Morris and Semaj Morgan are expected to step in at the position. However, Loveland is also a great option and could finish the 2024 season as the team’s best receiver. He is the only returning starter on offense and will make a big impact this fall.

Do you think all three of these guys will go in the first round next April? Is there anyone ESPN missed? Let us know in the comments!
