Chris Rock has attacked Will Smith, but is saving his best punchlines for Saturday’s Netflix special

The slap that went around the world is now being described in full for the first time by Chris Rock, who will finally speak about the infamous Oscar incident with Will Smith.

“Chris Rock: Selective Outrage” streams live on Netflix from the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET.

While the media discussed the Oscar attack ad nauseam and Will Smith tried to explain himself in various ways, Rock kept his opinions mostly to himself, making brief remarks during his appearances but not speaking at length about the moment.

He reportedly turned down offers to host the Oscars and appear in a Super Bowl commercial with Smith, saying he would save his thoughts on the events for a big reveal.

So far he has worked on a few pieces that may or may not appear in the special.

He delivered one of his longest takes during an arena show in Charleston, South Carolina in January as part of a program with Dave Chappelle.

“People want to know did it hurt? It did. He played Muhammad Ali! I played Pookie (in ‘New Jack City’). Even in cartoons, I’m a zebra and he’s a damn shark. I got hit so hard I heard ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears,” Rock joked, a source told the Wall Street Journal.

On the same show, Rock also talked about the size difference between himself and Smith.

“Will Smith is a big guy. I’m not,” Rock said. “Will Smith is shirtless in his movies. If you see me in a movie doing open-heart surgery, I’ll be wearing a sweater.”

Rock tried a different joke at another show, the New York Post reported.

“I’ve been rooting for Will Smith my whole life,” he recently told the audience at a theater performance. But Rock said he hated watching Smith’s latest film.

“I watched ‘Emancipation’ the other day just to see him get whipped.”

According to a report from Deadline, Rock previously joked with Dave Chappelle at London’s O2 Arena about their size difference: “He’s fought Ali! I can’t even fight Floyd Mayweather.” Ali was a heavyweight, Mayweather a light middleweight.

Rock also called Smith “Suge Smith,” a reference to the giant rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight.

Smith’s attempts to reach out were rebuffed by Rock. “I reached out to Chris and the response was that he’s not ready to talk yet and that he’ll reach out when he is,” Smith said in a widely shared social media video.

At the O2 Arena, Rock responded: “Fuck your hostage video,” he said.
