Aer Lingus said on Wednesday 19 June that it is currently reviewing the impact of industrial action by the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA), including service agreements due to commence on 26 June 2024.

“This action will have a completely unnecessary impact on customers travelling in the coming weeks, which is peak family season,” Aer Lingus said in a statement on Wednesday, a week before the industrial action began.

“The nature of this industrial action will have a significant impact on our flight schedules.

“However, our focus is on communicating directly with affected customers where possible and informing them of their options.

“We will also communicate directly with third-party agents, including travel agents and online agencies. Passengers who booked through a third-party agent should contact their sales agent for updates.”

The Irish airline added: “We will do everything we can to minimise the impact on customers.”

“However, it is inevitable that there will be some disruption as a result of this industrial action and we will communicate any changes, delays or cancellations to affected customers as soon as possible.”

“In the event of cancellations, we will try to re-accommodate customers as quickly as possible. We will work with other airlines and partner airlines and try to rent aircraft for this purpose.”

“For the most up-to-date information on the IALPA industrial action, please see the ‘Travel Advisory’ on the Aer Lingus website at AerLingus.com.”

Aer Lingus has released information on how to deal with flight delays or cancellations in advance of IALPA’s planned industrial action.

Aer Lingus said on Wednesday: “In the unfortunate event of a disruption to your flight, such as a delay or cancellation, we will do our best to minimise the inconvenience.”

“If you made your booking directly with Aer Lingus or on AerLingus.com and are affected, we will contact you and advise you of your booking options.

“If you booked through a third party (travel or online agency or another airline), we will notify the original sales agent of the change to your itinerary. To receive updates directly, please contact us to update your contact details.

“Please note that if your flight is significantly delayed and you still decide to travel, you will not be entitled to a refund.”

According to Aer Lingus, passengers have three options in the event of a flight cancellation: they can change their booking online, request a voucher for a future trip or request a cash refund.

You can check flight status and cancellations online on the travel updates page on AerLingus.com.
