There is one intersection where extreme caution is required, as it is considered one of the most dangerous in Michigan and is on the list of the deadliest in America.

About one in four fatal car crashes in the U.S. occurs at an intersection, according to data from the National Highway Transit Safety Association. The NHTSA recently released crash data on “fatal intersections” where at least three fatal crashes occurred. One intersection in Michigan remains one of the top 10 deadliest in the country.

Ranked 10th on the list of deadliest intersections in the United States is the intersection of N Gera Rd and Holland Rd in Frankenmuth, MI. Fatal crashes at intersections occur more frequently in New Jersey and Florida than in any other state. According to the study, crashes occur more frequently at intersections in rural areas.

While the deadliest intersection in Michigan is more rural, most accidents occur in densely populated areas. According to data from Michigan Auto Law, the intersection with the highest number of reported car accidents (218 crashes and 52 reported injuries) is at the intersection of 11 Mile Rd/I-696 and VanDyke Ave in Warren/Centerline.
