OPELOUSAS, Louisiana – Opelousas Police are investigating a suspicious death on South Union Street.

According to the Opelousas Police Department, on July 1, 2024, officers responded to a fatality on South Union Street at approximately 6 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a middle-aged black man dead.

Investigators believe the death was suspicious, but do not believe foul play was involved.

The man’s identity is being kept secret until his immediate family is notified, officials say.
