Hinthorn from Bonners Ferry participates in the USA Basketball Club Championships


BONNERS FERRY – As part of Select Basketball’s 15U PRO16 team, Peyton Hinthorn, rising sophomore at Bonners Ferry High, will compete in the ninth grade club championships, held July 23-25 ​​at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

For those unfamiliar, Select Basketball is a travel basketball program that features some of the Pacific Northwest’s best talent. The program’s 15U PRO16 team is currently ranked No. 1 in its division after finishing the spring season with a record of 11-2.

The team’s roster includes: Ahmed Abalo, Beaverton High School, Beaverton, Oregon; Orland Axton, Central Valley High School, Spokane, Washington; Jordan Carlson, Lake City High School, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Peyton Hinthorn, Bonners Ferry High School, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Braylon Larson, Butte High School, Butte, Montana; Karson Maze, Mead High School, Spokane, Washington; Collin Morris, Timberline High School, Boise, Idaho; Kaden Rogers, Owyhee High School, Meridian, Idaho; Gibson Williams, Thunder Basin High School, Gillette, Wyoming. Substitutes are: Liam Dick, Washington Middle School, Missoula, Montana; Gavin Fonseca, Owyhee High School, Meridian, Idaho; Joshua Sutton, Butte Central High School, Butte, Montana.

The ninth grade club championship tournament will pit Select Basketball 15U against the top 24 club basketball teams in the country, including teams from the EYBL (Nike), 3SSB (Adidas), The Association (Under Armour), PRO16 (Puma), and other top independent programs. This is an invitational, all-expenses-paid event for each participating team.

Before arriving in South Carolina, the team will compete in the PRO16 National Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona, July 11-14 in a 32-team bracket during the first NCAA Live Period of the summer (a time when college basketball coaches can evaluate potential recruits in person). From there, they will compete in a tournament in Indianapolis July 19-21, which is the final NCAA Live Period.

Select Basketball 15U is coached by Andy Harrington, who has been with the program for eight years. Harrington has won Idaho state titles three of the last four years as head coach of Middleton High (2021) and Owyhee High (2022 and 2024).
