Oklahoma County killer to die on September 26 • Oklahoma Voice

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday set Sept. 26 as the execution date for Oklahoma County murderer Emmanuel Littlejohn.

In 1992, Littlejohn and Glenn Bethany robbed a supermarket in Oklahoma City.

During the robbery, store owner Kenneth Meers was shot in the face and killed.

Bethany is serving a life sentence without parole.

A clemency hearing before the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board is scheduled for August 7 at 9 a.m. at 4345 N. Lincoln Blvd. in Oklahoma City.

If the panel recommends a pardon, Governor Kevin Stitt will make the final decision.

Littlejohn’s attorney, Callie Heller, said Littlejohn, 52, suffers from severe brain damage that affects his ability to function.

She said his death sentence was unfair and excessive.

Littlejohn has said he did not kill Meers, according to McAlester News Capital.

“I want to tell them (Meers’ family) that my condolences are with them for the loss of their son,” Littlejohn told the newspaper in an article published in 2023. “I am sorry for the role I played in this.”

The office of Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond did not respond to a request for comment prior to publication of this article.

The last prisoner executed in Oklahoma was Richard N. Rojem, Jr.on Friday by lethal injection at the Oklahoma State Prison in McAlester.

Rojem was executed for the murder of his former stepdaughter Layla Dawn Cummings (7) in 1984. The daughter was stabbed to death.

He was rejected Mildness.
