Fender Flagship Tokyo releases a guitar series inspired by Hokusai’s art to mark its first anniversary – SoraNews24 -Japan News-

When the Fender Flagship Tokyo opened in Harajuku last year, our Mr. Sato was one of the first to check out the guitars, basses and ham sandwiches, but this campaign might give him reason to return for a second round. On June 11, the Fender Flagship Tokyo opened with reservations for Made in Japan, Art Print on Canvas, Hokusaia collection of three electric guitars with designs inspired by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849).

Hokusai is best known for his Ukiyo-e style woodblock prints depicting various views of Mount Fuji at different times and seasons. Three of his most popular works are included in the limited edition collection for 198,000 yen (US$1,224.86) per piece.

This design is based on one of Hokusai’s most famous works, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. It was the first work in his art series “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji”. It was created sometime in the early 1830s.

The original work on which this design is based is known as Thunderstorm under the summit or Rainstorm under the summitJudging by the appearance of the mountain and the clouds, this was probably a view of the west face of Mount Fuji.

Related to The Tama River in Musashi Provincethis shows Mount Fuji as seen from modern-day Tokyo. This particular work features people alongside a natural landscape, which makes for an entertaining contrast.

To reserve one of these Hokusai masterpieces on canvas made in Japan, You must visit the Fender flagship shop in Tokyo in person to fill out a reservation form and contribute the money for the instrument.
