Controversial subsidiary of left-wing charity teaches book on terrorism in New York

A major subsidiary of a controversial left-wing nonprofit group is scheduled to host an event in New York on Friday to discuss a book published by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a group designated as a terrorist organization by the United States.

The Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, an organization designated as terrorist by Israel that is exempt from taxation in the United States thanks to the support of the Tucson-based Alliance for Global Justice, wrote in a message on the Telegram platform this week that the event will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at the Mayday Space community center in Brooklyn. The anti-Israel coalition is beginning a “series of group study events” centered on a text called Strategy for the liberation of Palestinewhich the PFLP published in 1969, outlining how “the State of Israel as a military, political and economic establishment can be destroyed.”

“The only weapon left to the masses to restore history and progress and to truly defeat enemies and potential enemies in the long run is revolutionary violence as a countermeasure to Zionist violence and reaction,” the book states. “The masses of the Arab nation have no other choice – they face a bitter enemy who demands unconditional surrender from them.”

News of this incident comes shortly after the Anti-Defamation League asked attorneys general in New York and Arizona to investigate the tax-exempt status of the Alliance for Global Justice because of its connection to Samidoun. Washington Examiner Investigations into AFGJ’s ties to terrorism prompted payment processors to delist the company from their platforms and donors to abandon the sinking ship.

“Samidoun’s status as a foreign terrorist organization, or at least its association with known terrorist organizations, raises questions about whether AFGJ and its board exercise appropriate oversight and control over its projects to ensure that AFGJ’s charitable assets are used in accordance with their tax-exempt status,” Steven C. Sheinberg, ADL’s general counsel, wrote to the attorneys general on Tuesday.

The Washington Examiner reported last week that leading Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue is allowing a separate subsidiary of AFGJ – the Colorado Freedom Fund – to use its platform, raising concerns among Republican members of Congress and legal experts. PayPal, Google Pay, Discover, Visa, Mastercard and American Express are listed as donors on the fundraising platform. This is ironic considering that payment processors had previously kicked out AFGJ outright for its ties to terrorism. The Colorado Freedom Fund is legally the same organization as AFGJ.

AFGJ appears to have failed to disclose lobbying activities in its financial reports, as CFF pays for lobbying in Colorado, the Washington Examiner was also reported.
