Coverage of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest 2024 will air on ESPN on July 4

ESPN will re-air coverage of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4th.

What happens:

  • The 2024 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest returns to the famous corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island on July 4th and will air on ESPN Networks.
  • ESPN has exclusive live broadcast rights from 10:45 a.m. ET through the end of the event and will televise the competition for the 21st consecutive year.
  • Coverage of the women’s competition begins at 10:45 a.m. ET on ESPN3. The men’s competition airs at noon ET on ESPN2, with replays at 5 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
  • The event is hosted by the duo E60 And Outside the lines Moderator Jeremy Schaap and Major League President Rich Shea. College Sports Live commentator Tiffany Greene reports on site.
  • On the male side, top-ranked woman Miki Sudo will attempt to defend her Mustard Belt during the 10-minute all-you-can-eat competition, while on the male side, a new champion will be crowned for the first time since world’s best eater Joey Chestnut reclaimed the Mustard Belt from Matt Stonie in 2016. Chestnut, the defending champion, will not compete this year.
  • The best international eaters from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Nigeria, South Korea and more will take part in the competition. Other well-known eaters in the competition include Geoffrey Esper, Mayoi “Ebimayo” Ebihara, Nick Wehry, Michelle Lesco, James Webb and Patrick Bertoletti.
  • During the competition, Sudo and Esper will show isolated cameras on ESPN3. The Sudo cam will be at 11:00 a.m. ET and the Esper cam will be at 12:30 p.m. ET.
  • The men’s world record is 76 hot dogs and buns, set by Chestnut in 2021, while for the women, Sudo holds the record with a feat of 48 ½ hot dogs and buns in 2020.
  • Nathan’s Famous will also make its annual donation of 100,000 Nathan’s Famous hot dogs to the Food Bank for New York City in advance of the event.
