Zach Bryan presents his new song “Wet, Hot American Nights” in Nashville

Directly from The great American bar scene.

Tomorrow is the big day when Zach Bryan Messages The great American bar scene. The singles we have received so far, like “Purple Gas” And “Pink Sky”, give fans a taste of what to expect. And by all appearances, this album will please ZB fans.

Fans at the last shows of the Quittin’ Time Tour got a bigger preview of the album, with ZB performing several songs from the record on stage. During his show in Nashville, Bryan performed a new song, aptly named after the scorching heat in Nashville the night of his show: “Wet, Hot American Nights.”

The song describes a summer meadow in a small town with fairs and picnics:

“The fly screen door has cracked, a ball game is going on
Man on a porch, singing baritone
The tan line leads to this gentle place
Between her collarbone and her ice cold face.”

It also reminds me of the summers when I was a teenager, sneaking around, stealing alcohol and having fun without causing too much trouble.

“Damp, hot, American nights
Come and shake your body dry under the lights of the coast
Wet, hot, American nights
We sneaked to the shore with our Fords and drank a bottle of bone-dry
We smuggled our Fords to the shore and drank a bottle bone-dry.”

As the lyrics continue, the progression of life is depicted, and looking back on those innocent years, one realizes that growing up is hard. When Bryan looks back on the memories he made during summers in the small town when the air was humid, he sees a humid environment filled with laughter and time spent with close friends.

Since Bryan was singing the song for the first time on stage, he messed up the lyrics a little bit, but that didn’t affect how quickly the song drew me in. With the groan of the steel guitar in the background, the melody is country through and through. Combined with the songwriting, it’s a recipe for a song that will quickly get stuck in your head.

The great American bar scene … we are ready for you.
