WWE Hall of Famer wants 20-minute match with AEW star Chris Jericho

A veteran of the wrestling world would like to have a long fight against Chris Jericho.

Many former WWE stars are now with All Elite and many have stated in interviews that they would like to have as many first-time matches as possible rather than rekindle old rivalries in another company. However, one former WWE Champion sees things differently and would like to face some established stars.

In his podcast “1 of a Kind”, Rob Van Dam, who has appeared in AEW several times, explained that he would prefer to work with guys like Jericho, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage because he knows he can get a great fight out of any of them and all three are less susceptible to risky situations compared to the younger talents:

“I’d really like to team up with one of my colleagues that I’ve worked with before. If I go up against a young rookie, they get a chance, that’s a good chance for them. I can still hang with them, that’s cool. But if we had, say, RVD vs. Edge, RVD vs. Christian, RVD vs. Jericho.

I’ve had some outstanding matches with all of those guys and I have no doubt that if we got back in a ring and they weren’t one of the new young guys that didn’t quite follow the same rules as me, it would be pretty damn outstanding. You change a few things, do a few things that weren’t acceptable before and they’ve adapted.

“They might want me to do some moves that I think are stupid or don’t make sense. I have to talk them out of it. This is going to be like, boom, let’s see what the experience of these guys is in their heads, combined with the physicality of RVD, that damn specimen, and the other guys are in top shape as well, so I’d be really stoked to have the chance to do something like that.”

Van Dam continued, noting that he wanted the game to take a significant amount of time and predicted that fans would love it:

“20 minutes, something like that, 15 at least. A long match with someone from my generation where I can be myself and dance around her acrobatically like I always have, but we can tell a great story that everyone understands. I tell you what, I think people would be blown away by the results, I really do.”

Chris Jericho is challenged by another veteran

Jericho, who currently reigns as FTW Champion, has aligned himself with Big Bill and Bryan Keith, both of whom helped The Learning Tree retain his title. Just when it looked like Chris Jericho had recruited another legend, the veteran instead challenged him to a title shot.

H/t to WrestleZone.
