Sonic has launched a new $1.99 savings menu, the company announced Monday.

The company is the latest fast-food chain to announce a value menu or menu deal. Previously, McDonald’s announced a $5 menu deal last week and Taco Bell announced a $7 value menu deal on Thursday. Burger King, Wendy’s and Jack in the Box have also recently announced value menus.

Sonic touts its value menu as having “something for every taste and budget.” According to a press release, the menu includes the following dishes for $1.99 each:

  • Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger
  • Chili Cheese Coney
  • Bacon Ranch Queso Wrap
  • Southwest Crunch Queso Wrap
  • Toddlers
  • Each of the 12 flavors of Sonic Shakes in a 16-ounce size

Sonic says the Value Menu, nicknamed the “Fun.99 Menu,” will be a permanent addition to its overall menu.

“Now more than ever, consumers value affordable food, but they shouldn’t have to settle for the same old discounts or boring meals,” said Ryan Dickerson, Sonic’s chief marketing officer, in the press release.

“The FUN.99 menu is all about choice and fun. Whether you want one of our twelve shake flavors, a chili cheese coney or our legendary tots for a midday snack, it’s all for just $1.99,” Dickerson said.

McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Burger King also offer inexpensive meals

McDonald’s announced earlier this month that customers can get a $5 meal deal at participating restaurants for a limited time starting June 25.

The menu includes four dishes: You can choose between a McDouble or McChicken, 4 Chicken McNuggets, small portions of French fries and a small soft drink.

“We’ve heard our fans’ wishes loud and clear – they expect even more from us and that’s exactly what they’ll get this summer,” said Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, in a statement.

Taco Bell also recently announced a new combo meal designed to make fast food more affordable. The new, limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box is available now and includes a Chalupa Supreme, a Beefy 5-Layer Burrito, a Double Stacked Taco, chips and nacho cheese sauce, and a medium drink.

The restaurant chain says the price of the combination is about 55% lower than the price of the menu items purchased individually.

Last month, Wendy’s began offering a $3 breakfast special that included an English muffin breakfast sandwich and a side of seasoned potatoes, and Burger King introduced the $5 “Your Way Meal” with a choice of three sandwiches plus chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.

Jack in the Box also recently announced a $4 menu, which has been available since early June. The menu features a variety of snacks such as mini tacos, curly fries and chicken sandwiches for under $4.
