A third installment was officially confirmed, but few details about the project were revealed.

The latest update about Sherlock Holmes 3 is exciting as producer Susan Downey confirmed that the film is being shot. “I mean, look, no, there is no update, except that it is still very much alive in our hearts,” Downey said. “Every day we talk about, ‘What’s the best next version of this?’ Because every time I see Robert and Jude (Law) together, which luckily I see a couple times a year, we hang out together and I’m just like, ‘Can I get these guys back together on screen?’, it’s magic. There has to be a really good reason, it has to be a great story, and we have some things in the works.”

It is still unclear whether Ritchie will direct the third film, as he is currently working on the prequel, which features a different cast.
