Travis Kelce reveals conversation with Taylor Swift for cameo on Eras tour

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are the best team.

In the latest episode of his and Jason Kelce’s podcast “New Heights,” the Chiefs’ All-Pro tight end explained that his cameo on the “Eras Tour” in London – when he surprised fans onstage at Wembley Stadium in June as one of Swift’s backup dancers – was his idea, but the singer refined it to the point that it was the “perfect” moment.

The conversation started when Jason mentioned that “something magical happened” on stage and asked “whose idea it was” to have his little brother be part of the show.

“I first mentioned it to Tay. I said, ‘How funny would it be if I rode by on one of the motorcycles in 1989, during this part of the show,'” Travis said.

“She started laughing and said, ‘Would you seriously want to do something like that?’ And I was like, ‘I’d love to! Are you kidding me? I’ve seen the show enough times that you might as well have me work here.’ And sure enough, she found the perfect part of the show for me to come in. There was no bike in case I bumped into someone else or the dancers. It was kind of the safest option.”

Travis shocked the crowd at Wembley Stadium last month when he walked onstage during an introduction to Swift’s performance of “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” – which Jason says is now his favorite Swift song.

The three-time Super Bowl champion, wearing a tuxedo and top hat, had the important task of carrying Swift to a sofa onstage as the production moved on to her “Tortured Poets Department” set.

“It’s such a fun, playful part of the show. It was the perfect place or time for me to go up there and just do theater and have fun, not only with her (the background dancers), but with the audience, and get everyone really excited for the rest of the show. It was great… I had a blast,” Travis said, adding that it was an honor to share the stage with Swift.

“When Taylor is on stage, you can’t go wrong.”

Travis, known for his fiery personality and party persona, joked that the cameo was “not my style at all.”

“I don’t love going on stage,” he said, laughing.

Jason and his wife Kylie Kelce met Travis in London and watched the show from the VIP tent.
