Ardmore Rotary Club celebrates its 100th anniversary

LOWER MERION – July 1 marked the beginning of the Rotary Club of Ardmore’s centennial celebration, marking 100 years of service to the Lower Main Line community, regional organizations and international projects.

“We are proud of our record and invite others in the community who are interested in making the world a better place to join our club,” the organization said in its press release.

The co-presidents for the centennial year are Chief Tom Hayden of the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore and attorney Fred Fromhold, who were sworn in on June 27.

“(They) are outstanding members of the community and both have impressive histories of community involvement and involvement. Tom is currently chief of the Merion Fire Company in Ardmore and a volunteer with the Gladwyne Fire Company. And while volunteering, Tom also finds time to run his printing business, Hayden Printing, in Ardmore. Fred, a partner in the law firm Fromhold Jaffe Adams & Jun, has been closely involved in many projects in and around the Main Line for many years and always works with his clients to achieve what is best for the community,” they said.

The co-presidents were sworn in and will replace Reverend Carolyn Cavaness, pastor of Bethel AME Church in Ardmore, who has led the club in many successful projects over the past year.

In honor of the centennial, the Ardmore Rotary Club plans to make a significant contribution to the Lower Main Line community. Discussions are currently underway to determine exactly what that will be. In honor of our 75th anniversary year, the Clevenger Fountain in front of the Ardmore Library was restored, the only monumental sculpture in Lower Merion Township.

“We invite people in the community who would like to volunteer and be part of this exciting year – and beyond – to contact Co-President Tom Hayden at [email protected]. Ardmore Rotary meets every week on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. at a nearby, convenient location. Founded in Chicago in 1905, Rotary International is based on fellowship, a source of business contacts, exceptional ethics and service to those who cannot help themselves,” they added. “Become part of this friendly, special group of people dedicated to doing good in the world.”
