An unofficial “Club Nintendo” anthology will be released on Kickstarter next month

If you enjoyed Nintendo’s Club Nintendo loyalty program, you might want to look out for an upcoming Kickstarter project that will launch on 1 August 2024.

Created by Ocsar Bown, who previously delighted us with the unofficial hardcover book Super Mario Collection, “An unsupported Club Nintendo anthology” attempts to compile all the main rewards of the loyalty program from its launch in Europe in 2002 until its discontinuation in 2015.

With over 300 pages and a comprehensive selection of bespoke images, it is, to our knowledge, the first of its kind to cover Club Nintendo in its entirety.

Backers of the project can also opt for some tasty add-ons, including a gold coin pin, handheld postcards, and a 2025 anniversary celebration calendar. So it really is a project that tries to do what Nintendo doesn’t do – at least not in the way it used to.

Club Nintendo was available in Europe, North America, Japan and Australia, and its launch was somewhat staggered between 2002 and 2008. By submitting codes found in official Nintendo products, fans could collect coins that they could spend on material rewards, including CD soundtracks, plush toys, badges and even wired controllers.

After Nintendo ended Club Nintendo in 2015, the company launched an official successor called My Nintendo. It worked in a similar way, but the rewards were more geared towards digital items such as phone wallpapers, themes, and full game downloads for Wii U and 3DS.
