“What a way to welcome a girl.”

“What a way to welcome a girl.”

Taylor Swift begins her UK adventure with a three-night sold-out performance at Scotland Gas Murrayfield Stadium.

“The last time I was here was almost 10 years ago,” she said, clutching her sky blue “Lover” guitar, to nearly 73,000 screaming fans. The last time the Eras Tour star performed within Scottish borders was her 2015 “1989 World Tour” in Glasgow.

“Someone took me aside and said, ‘Hey, we’ve checked this 20 times and we swear it’s true.’ ‘This is the best attended concert in Scottish history,'” she added. “What a way to welcome a girl to Scotland.”

According to The National, Harry Styles held the record with 65,000 fans at his Love on Tour show in 2023. The news site said stadium capacity was increased by 8% for the Eras Tour.

Scottish lake renamed Loch Tay Tay

As a warm gesture to mark the singer’s arrival, the First Minister of Scotland hosted a renaming ceremony at Loch Tay, a freshwater lake two hours north of Edinburgh.

“First of all, I want to say to Taylor and all her Swifties that you really have a very warm welcome here in Scotland,” Scottish First Minister John Swinney said during a media event at the loch on Wednesday. “I am so excited and the fact that Loch Tay is being renamed Loch Tay Tay is just fabulous.”

“My only regret” is …

Swift’s extensive touring schedule includes 22 countries over the course of two years, including 18 European cities. She has already performed in some cities, such as London, Paris and Madrid. Other cities are new to her world tour, including Lyon, France and Stockholm, Sweden.

In a similar message during her song “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” Swift shared with the Scottish audience how much she loves having her extensive discography showcased on the Eras Tour.

“My only regret about the tours we’ve done is that I really shouldn’t have come to Scotland to play more often,” she said. “Look at what you’ve done. You’ve made us feel welcome. You’ve been so wonderfully generous to us.”

Swift’s three-hour-plus show blared from the open stadium in Scotland to fans sitting outside Murrayfield’s walls. In what is known as “Taylor” gating, fans sat on the grass and attempted to watch live streams of the show in the stadium on their phones while listening to the music live. Unlike in other concert cities, however, the live streams in the stadium were incredibly patchy and unreliable.

The next stop on the Eras Tour is Liverpool, England on Thursday, where Swift will perform her 100th Eras Tour show on June 13.
