These are the 20 most dangerous intersections in Michigan
A new report lists Michigan’s most dangerous intersections, and most of them are in the Detroit area.
Michigan Auto Law has released its annual list of dangerous intersections, using data from the Michigan State Police.
The Michigan State Police Traffic Reporting Unit’s underlying data analysis is generated using traffic crash reports submitted by local law enforcement agencies and police departments across Michigan. This is the most current data available on the total number of crashes at intersections in Michigan in 2023.
An “intersection” is defined as any roadway with a traffic light, an intersection with four stop signs, or a roundabout. Accident data covers and includes all reported traffic crashes resulting in injury and/or death that occurred within 200 feet of an intersection, including near freeways (and their subsequent on- and off-ramps and secondary roads), expressways, and rural roads.
