Elton chic! Rocketman singer auctions off his wardrobe on eBay. His typical suits, shirts and retro glasses are up for grabs

Elton John has auctioned off part of his wardrobe on eBay; the items up for grabs include his signature suits, shirts and glasses with retro frames.

The Rocketman singer recently sold his Atlanta apartment and is now trying to find a new home for the more than 900 of his personal items that were stored in the 1,250-square-foot space.

He already sold hundreds of individual pieces at an auction at Christie’s in February, but now the pop star is buying another batch of elegant garments on the online auction site.

Some of the most unusual items in the sale, which began last Thursday and ends on Sunday, July 7, include a teal suit by Richard James, an embroidered light blue leather jacket and a rather chunky pair of Gucci loafers.

Bidding initially started at $26.60, based on the apartment’s address at 2660 Peachtree Road, and has since risen to as high as $6,500, although that may seem quite affordable to some avid collectors.

The pieces will be auctioned off in aid of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which the musician founded in 1992.

Some of the collection’s more unusual pieces include a sleeveless chaimail tank top by Gianni Versace, a polka dot dress by Versace and a bright pink “Betsey’s HOT” shirt by Betsey Johnson.

Before the auction began, Elton said: “Giving new life to the treasured items from my wardrobe has always been something special to me. For decades I have donated the treasures of my wardrobe to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

“This Pride Month, I’m excited to share my Atlanta treasure trove on eBay in the hopes that these items will inspire you to express your unique spirit and bring you as much joy as they have brought me.”

“Whether you’re looking for high-end luxury or something more relaxed, there’s something for everyone. And even better, every dollar goes to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which works to end LGBTQ+ stigma.”

Before selling it late last year for $7.22 million, John had held his apartment in the 40-story Park Place tower in Buckhead for more than 30 years.

He considered it his home base while touring the US. After his 330-date farewell tour, he is now focusing on spending more time with his husband and their children in his native England.

The home, which housed parts of his vast collection and is now under a new owner, also includes a two-story dining room, three spacious guest suites, a master bedroom with an adjoining sitting area and an onyx-clad bathtub.

When his Atlanta home first went up for sale, John spoke to the Wall Street Journal about preparing for the sale and the hundreds of personal items that were to be auctioned off.

“I’m afraid I’m not a minimalist. It was quite a nightmare cleaning everything out and a bit of a nightmare figuring out where everything was.

“But I have a brain that, when something has been moved, I know exactly where it has been moved to. And I put it back in the right place,” he said.
