Man faces death penalty after double murder in Lincoln strip club

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – The man accused of shooting two men at a Lincoln strip club faces the death penalty.

Christopher Johnson, 32, appeared in court on Tuesday after prosecutors upgraded his charge to first-degree murder.

Originally, these were Class 1a felonies, which carry a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Today, they are Class 1 felonies, which carry the death penalty.

According to court documents, Johnson shot Carlos Silva and Terrell Jones outside The Office Gentlemen’s Club near the corner of West Van Dorn and South Folsom Streets early on the morning of May 25.

Silva and Jones were taken to a hospital where they died.

Johnson is being held without bail in the Lancaster County Jail.

Darious Fletcher, who police say was with Johnson during the killings, is charged with two counts of aiding and abetting premeditated murder and is being held on $2 million bail.

Lancaster County Judge Laurie Yardley has scheduled Johnson and Fletcher’s preliminary hearings for August 21.
