Action movies come in many shapes and sizes. Some have a healthy dose of comedy, while others are more about explosions, fast cars, and danger. No matter what flavor you’re in the mood for, action movies make you want to grab some popcorn, dim the lights, and turn the speakers up to 11. They give you the ultimate movie-going experience, even if you’re streaming at home.
Netflix has some of the best action movies out there. They appeal to action fans of all kinds as they offer a wide variety and cater to all tastes. You’ll find that the movies on this list tend to be intense, with deep storylines, dark underworlds, dangerous missions and shady characters.
Extraction is based on the graphic novel Ciudad and is Sam Hargrave’s directorial debut. Chris Hemsworth plays Tyler Rake, a mercenary who is sent on a secret mission to rescue a boy kidnapped by drug lords. The only problem is that Rake has nothing to lose and is not afraid to sacrifice his life on this mission.
Although this film has violent moments, it has some incredible action sequences that make it worth watching. Many critics compared Hemsworth’s character to John Wick, which is all things considered appropriate (although the “John Wick” films have slightly stronger storylines). Extraction is in Netflix’s top 10 most-watched movies of all time for a reason.

“Triple border”
This is another directorial debut from JC Chandor, who makes a film about five special forces agents who learn from an informant that South American crime boss Gabriel Martin Lorea is hiding $75 million. They plan a heist, and as expected, it all goes horribly wrong. The cast includes Ben Affleck as Tom “Redfly” Davis, Oscar Isaac as Santiago “Pope” Garcia, Charlie Hunnam as William “Ironhead” Miller, Garrett Hedlund as Ben “Benny” Miller, and Pedro Pascal as Francisco “Catfish” Morales. Each character risks their life, all because of a lack of money.
Even though this film didn’t win any awards, it’s still a classic Friday night movie. The action will keep you hooked the entire time, even as it teaches a moral against living a life of greed.

‘The killer’
Director David Fincher reteams with Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker to give you a taste of what to expect in The Killer. Michael Fassbender plays the title character (and yes, that’s his only name), whose life takes a turn when a murder attempt goes wrong. After finding his girlfriend beaten by unknown assailants, he sets out to track them down, one by one.
However, Fassbender’s character is not relatable or even remotely appealing, as one might expect from previous films that focus on a hitman. He is a complete psychopath. This film is more about giving us a close look into the mind of this type of man and his cold, calculating actions as he loses his mind.

“The Grey Man”
If you like the Ryan Gosling of Falling Colt rather than the Ryan Gosling of Barbie, you’ll appreciate his role in The Gray Man. This film is based on a series of novels by Mark Greaney and is the first of many to be released. Gosling plays CIA agent “Six,” who joins the program after being recruited for murder while in prison. However, when an assassination attempt goes awry, Six flees from Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former agent who was kicked out of the CIA for sociopathic tendencies.
You will enjoy the fact that many of the lines in this film were improvised, which gives the dialogue a realistic feel. Director brothers Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, known for their work on “The Avengers,” have also announced that they plan to make a Sequel to the film.

‘Baby Driver’
Edgar Wright wrote and directed Baby Driver, a film about a young getaway driver working for a crime boss who is about to get involved in a failed robbery. Ansel Elgort plays the character Baby, a passionate music lover who is partially disabled and wants to escape from his life of crime. He initially believes he has escaped his life of crime, but his former boss threatens him to get him to join him again.
Elgort is not the only star of this film, as there is also plenty of good acting from Jamie Foxx and Jon Hamm, to name a few. The film was also nominated for several Oscars, which is no surprise. It is a high-quality and gripping action film that breaks the mold of typical heist movies.
