REC Board Elections Open: Make your voice heard

Fredericksburg, Virginia –The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) director election process is now open! If you get your electricity from REC, you can now complete the proxy designation form online or return it when it arrives in the mail.

Three candidates who are REC members just like you will be elected to the cooperative’s board of directors during the virtual annual meeting on Wednesday, August 7.

“Every member plays a critical role in electing the co-op’s board of directors,” said Casey Hollins, executive director of communications and public relations. “You have the right to elect representatives from all three regions, regardless of your location. Your participation is essential.”

In early July, the Proxy Designation Form will be mailed to all REC members via U.S. mail. This form is the tool you will use to participate in the election. Members who have a valid email address on file with REC will also receive an email with instructions on how to access and designate their proxy online. In addition, members can log into MyREC SmartHub at any time to complete the proxy designation online.

The deadline for entries is July 31st at 5pm.

REC offers incentives to encourage members to vote early.

• Complete and return your authorization form by July 10 to win one of 30 $250 cash prizes.
• Complete and return your authorization form by July 24 to win one of 15 $100 cash prizes.
• Complete and return your authorization by July 31st to win one of ten $50 cash prizes.

All members who have returned their proxy or registered for the meeting but have not won any of the other prizes will be entered into a drawing for additional prizes to be announced during the Annual Meeting.

If you prefer to attend the virtual Annual Meeting, registration begins at 7:00 a.m. on August 1 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on August 2. Only registered members will receive instructions on how to attend the virtual Annual Meeting on August 7 and cast their vote live.
