Bahamas police are doing “the absolute minimum” to find them

Editor’s note: The above video aired shortly after Casey’s disappearance

(NewsNation) — Nearly two weeks after Chicago woman Taylor Casey disappeared from a yoga retreat in the Bahamas, investigators have not released any new information in her case, according to her family.

“No news, no information on where Taylor is or where Taylor might have been. Nothing,” Casey’s mother, Colette Seymore, said during an appearance on “NewsNation Now.”

Casey has not been seen since the evening of June 19, when she disappeared from a yoga retreat at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat, where she was taking a yoga teacher training course.

Casey’s family, including her mother, returned to Chicago after traveling to the Bahamas after Casey disappeared, but Seymore says there has been no news since then.

“Since I’ve been back here in the States, nothing. I haven’t heard from any of them. I’m not sure if the FBI is involved. You know, I heard someone say that, but I don’t think it’s happening,” Seymore said. “It was very hard for me to get back on a plane and come back without my child. Very hard and no answers.”

“I think the Royal Bahamas Police investigation team is doing the bare minimum,” Seymore added.

The search for Casey was intensified on Thursday, and sniffer dogs were also brought into the search. Authorities hope to find the trail of the yoga enthusiast.

Due to the retreat’s extreme remoteness, local police began using drone technology to search for signs on the western end of Paradise Island.

The 41-year-old visited Paradise Island as part of her interest in yoga. Casey had made the trip to obtain additional certification.

In an emotional interview, Seymore spoke directly to her daughter, saying, “I believe in my heart that you are alive. Please contact us. We love you and we miss you and we need you home with us.”
