Jerry Lawler gives updates on health and WWE contract, Downstait works on another theme song

Jerry “The King” Lawler recently appeared on the Going Ringside podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including how he is doing after suffering a stroke last year and his current contract status with WWE.

Below you can see some highlights from the podcast:

How he is doing after his stroke last year: “I’m limping around a bit at the moment, my right knee has just been replaced. I’m OK, but I’m limping a bit here and there… I seem to be doing pretty well. People just see me like that, but at home I live alone. It’s a bit rough there at the moment. But it seems to be getting better.”

On his WWE contract status: “The commentator contract (has ended). I had two strokes about seven months ago and that’s how they started… that’s not good for commentators. But I’m still under contract with them.”

The band Downstait, which plays Cody Rhodes’ current theme song, says they are working on a new theme song for another wrestling talent.

In a recent episode of the podcast “Reffin It Up,” the band revealed that they are working on another title song.

Below you can see some highlights from the podcast:

Guitarist Justin Call on working on a new theme: “We’re always working on someone else’s song… It’s not our song to spoil. Ultimately, when we give them the music, it’s for them to do something with it. They let it go.”

Singer Zack Call on their approach to revealing new topics: “We like to keep it a secret until the artist comes out and starts promoting. Most of our current activities are rebranding activities. We don’t want to brag, but most of the time when we get a wrestler, him or her, they’re going somewhere with it. We have this weird lucky charm on all of these artists. It seems like they’re going somewhere when they get us. Since the beginning of this year, we’ve been working with wrestlers nonstop.”
