Cardi B releases teaser for new song with Janet Jackson sample

Cardi B has released a teaser for a new song with a sample from Janet Jackson.

On July 1, the “WAP” rapper posted a video clip of a new song to her Instagram stories. In the clip, which samples Janet Jackson’s “Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun),” Cardi swaps her usual energetic rap verses for subdued vocals: “Hope you’re on the way / Crazy about you / Waiting for you, can’t wait to sit on that face / Focused on you.”

She also wrote: “Y’all like this vibe for ‘CB2’?”

“CB2” is the working title for Cardi B’s long-awaited sophomore album. Although the album hasn’t been officially announced yet—nor does it have a release date in sight—Cardi has been hinting for some time that she’s hard at work on the project and that it will be released sometime this year.

In the years since the release of her debut album, Cardi has been busy with a selection of singles, most notably “Please Me” with Bruno Mars in 2019, “Up” in 2021 and “WAP” in 2020 with Megan Thee Stallion.

Cardi B’s 2018 debut album “Invasion Of Privacy” received a four-star review from NMEwith Nick Levine writing, “This is a remarkably confident and convincing debut from a superstar who’s been working hard. ‘My little 15 minutes is taking a long time, eh?’ she boasts nonchalantly on closing track ‘I Do.’ Given these facts, it’s going to take a lot longer.”
