The sixth event of the 2024 Melges 24 European Sailing Series will take place in Fraglia Vela Riva and the Melges 24 teams are excited to compete. The renowned ‘wind factory’ will host a highly competitive fleet from Friday to Sunday (5-7 July) as the teams battle for valuable points that will contribute to the overall series standings.

The series leaderboard is full of competition! After five events, three teams are tied on points. Razjaren (CRO), led by Ante Cesic, currently leads the rankings thanks to his outstanding performances throughout the season. Close behind are Akos Csolto’s Chinook (HUN), the leader of the Corinthian division and winner of the 2023 circuit, and Leonardo Centuori’s youth team on Strambapapà (ITA), third overall and second in the Corinthian division, both of whom are chasing the Croatian leader.

Significantly, the sixth event of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series will see a reunion between the Melges 32 and Melges 24 fleets thanks to the collaboration between the International Melges 24 Class Association (IM24CA) and the Italian Melges 24 and Melges 32 Class Associations. The event in Riva del Garda, which will feature a maximum of eight races, will also function as the Italian Melges 24 Championship.

Over the past five events (Trieste, Portoroz, Skive, Attersee and Hankø), 65 teams from nine nations have so far participated in the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2024.

Seven teams from the provisional top ten will compete again at the event in Riva del Garda. These include the aforementioned Razjaren, Chinook, Miles Quinton’s Zhik Race Team (GBR), Antonio Masoli’s Vertigo (ITA), Sergio Caramel’s Arkanoè (ITA), Michael Tarabochia’s White Room (GER) and Enrico Michel’s Never 2 Late (ITA).

In addition to the top ten, other strong teams have anchored in Riva del Garda and are ready to compete. These include Melgina (ITA) of Paolo Brescia, two-time winner of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series; Panjic (CRO) of Luka Šangulin, who was runner-up in 2023 and currently leads the CRO Melges 24 Cup; and Point One (CRO), owned by Karlo Kuret, a former America’s Cup sailor and current runner-up of the CRO Melges 24 Cup.

Fraglia Vela Riva, a respected partner and venue of the International Melges 24 Class Association, is organizing this exciting event. With an excellent field of participants, the upcoming regatta promises exciting racing and remarkable sailing.
