Every major sporting event needs an unofficial anthem and it looks like the Beatles will provide the soundtrack to Euro 2024.

Hey Jude has shot up the charts after the stunning performance of Jude Bellingham, who Victory for England against Serbia Days ago.

Football fans in Germany spontaneously sang the 56-year-old song after Bellingham headed the ball into the net to give Germany a 1-0 win on Sunday evening.

Politicians have called on their fans to sing the Beatles’ iconic song instead of chanting the war-related “Ten German Bombers” songs that had caused outrage among locals.

“We want to score more goals and sing more ‘Hey Jude’,” said Rishi Sunak after the win.

Spotify even saw a 19% increase in streaming numbers overnight and this figure is expected to continue to rise as Euro 2024 progresses.

Speaking about the win, the current Prime Minister and football fan added: “It’s great to see England start their Euros season with a win. The whole country is behind them and hoping they make it to the end.”

“And as for the chants in particular, I agree with what Gareth Southgate has said about these chants in the past.

“We want to represent the best in our country at these tournaments – and that means more goals for Jude Bellingham and more chants of ‘Hey Jude’.”

Despite the upcoming election, Keir Starmer even agreed with Sunak on this issue, proving that sport does indeed unite the country.

He told The Sun: “What better way to celebrate our new prodigy Bellingham than by belting out the classic ‘Hey Jude’?”

“Our songs should be all about supporting the players on the pitch.”

Bellingham was surprised and honored when the Gelsenkirchen audience sang his name and said that he was a Beatles fan.

“I like the Beatles, I listen to them a lot,” said the 20-year-old player. “My style of music is a bit old-fashioned, so this is exactly my thing.”

“I really enjoy playing in front of the English fans. It’s a completely different experience for me because I’m obviously playing abroad.”

“They give me a lot of recognition and a lot of love and I try to give that back with my performances and my energy on the pitch.”

“Hey Jude” was actually the Beatles hit that stayed in the charts the longest: it stormed to number one on September 28, 1968 and stayed there for 19 weeks.
