SISTERSVILLE – The Boys and Girls Club of Tyler County has received a $5,000 grant from the Memorial Health Foundation.

The funds will be used for the club’s summer program and are intended to improve the health and well-being of Tyler County’s youth by providing 25 youth with free participation in the program, said Morgan Najar, executive director of the Boys and Girls Division.

The grant is intended to finance the membership fee for the summer club and covers the following:

* Education, leadership, physical fitness, social interactions, mental health, STEAM and community engagement programs, among others.

* One take-away breakfast per child per day

* One hot lunch per child per day

* One take-away snack per child per day

* Trips

* Boys and Girls Club – nationally trained youth development professionals who care for club members and implement high quality programs

The presentation took place on June 25. In attendance were: Executive Director Jarrett S. Stull of the Memorial Health Foundation; Senior Philanthropy Officer Susie Warman of the Memorial Health Foundation; Dan Breece, Vice President of Medical Services and Chief Medical Officer of the Memorial Health System; Heidi McGowan, Hospital Administrator of the Memorial Health

System’s Sistersville General Hospital; and Heather Straight, a well-known family physician.

The Memorial Health Foundation offers two grant cycles per year in which funds are donated to support

local nonprofit organizations with similar goals to the health care system. As a nonprofit organization, Memorial Health Foundation is dedicated to building a healthier community through education, special patient assistance funds, and charitable care, among other things.

The grants focus on meeting the financial needs of the Memorial Health System, but each year the Foundation allocates funds to support nonprofit organizations that share a similar mission to the health system.

Governed by a volunteer board of community residents, Memorial Health System is a network of locations and departments with more than 3,000 employees, including three hospitals, outpatient service locations, physician offices and a virtual urgent care app.
