Heart singer Ann Wilson has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 74-year-old star, who rose to fame in the mid-1970s as lead singer of the group Barracuda alongside her younger sister Nancy Wilson, 70, has cancelled the band’s upcoming “Royal Flush” tour with Cheap Trick, which was due to begin on July 30 and run until December, while she undergoes chemotherapy to fight her illness.

Ann Wilson announced on Instagram today: “Dear friends, I recently had surgery to remove something that turned out to be cancerous. The surgery was successful and I feel great, but my doctors are now recommending preventative chemotherapy and I have decided to do that.”

“And that’s why my doctors have advised me to stay off the stage for the rest of the year to fully recover.”

The singer stressed that she “absolutely” plans to go back on stage next year.

She continued: “To those who bought tickets, I really wish we could do these shows. Please know that I fully intend to be back on stage in 2025.

“My team is clarifying these details. We will inform you of the plan as soon as possible.

“Many thanks for the support.

“This is just a break. I have a lot more to sing…

“With all due respect, this is the last public statement I wish to make on this matter.”

Additionally, a post on Heart’s official Instagram page urged fans to “hold on to their tickets” as “they will be honored for the rescheduled dates” and “more information will be announced” in the coming weeks.

At the end of May, Heart canceled their European tour dates so that Ann Wilson could undergo a “time-critical but routine medical procedure.”

To reassure her fans, she posted to X: “I’m fine! Please don’t worry.”

“I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It is certainly an inconvenience for me.”

“Always love and respect, Ann.”
