Heart cancels 2024 tour as lead singer Ann Wilson announces cancer diagnosis

Heart rocker Ann Wilson has announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 74-year-old musician announced on Tuesday, July 2, that she recently underwent cancer surgery and will therefore take the rest of the year off.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Ann explained why her tour was canceled when she shared the news of her cancer diagnosis.

She wrote: “Dear friends, I recently had surgery to remove something that turned out to be cancerous.

“The surgery was successful and I feel great, but my doctors are now advising me to undergo preventive chemotherapy and I have decided to do that.

“And so many doctors are advising me to take a break from the stage for the rest of the year to fully recover.”

She then explained what would happen to the ticket holders and thanked everyone for their support.

“To those who bought tickets: I really wish we could do these shows. Please know that I fully intend to be back on stage in 2025. My team is sorting out these details and we will announce the plan as soon as possible.

“Thank you all for your support. This is just a break. I have a lot more to sing. Love, Ann Wilson.”

She ended the post by saying, “With all due respect, this is the last public statement I wish to make on this matter.”

Fans poured in support for the star, with one writing: “I’m a little disappointed but that means nothing to me. What means everything to me is that you’re healthy. Concerts and this and that can definitely wait. Take care. We’re all behind you no matter what. Sending you love and support.”

A second said: “Ann, YOU are the most important thing you should be investing your energy in! All of us, your fans, will be there for you when and if you are ready! Wishing you a speedy and full recovery!!”

“Don’t worry about us, just take care of yourself! Sending you prayers and positive energy!” commented a third.

Another added: “Sending you lots of love and encouragement for your treatment and recovery.”

Ann’s tour, Heart’s Royal Flush Tour, was scheduled to begin in Cleveland on July 30 and run through December.
