The Chucks lose a slugfest with Fond Du Lac – End the series on the road

The Chucks lose 7-17 to the Dock Spiders and are 20-5 on the season. The Chucks pitchers had another tough outing, so the Chucks will have to fight for a tie in the series tomorrow.

It was all the Dock Spiders from the start, as Clayton Burke (Cen. Methodist U) allowed two in the third inning and finished his appearance with three earned runs, pitching just 3.1 innings.

The Chucks scored in the third inning on an RBI double by Trey Gambill (Oklahoma U) that scored Drew Berkland (U of Minnesota). The Chucks trailed 1-3 after three innings.

There were five consecutive innings in which the Dock Spiders brought home at least one run. In the 4thth and 5th it was one run each. The 6th saw three runs cross, and the 7th saw nine runs come home.

The Chucks had some positives on offense when Brayden Smith (Iowa Western Community College) hit his first home run of the season in the 6th.th. In the next inning, Bryce Hubbard (Georgia U) hit his second home run in as many days, a two-run shot to right field.

The 8th three more for the Chucks when Jonah St. Antoine (U of Pittsburg) hit his first home run of the season. The score was 7-17 as the Chucks entered the ninth inning.

The Chucks went up three times, back three times in the 9th.th and lost to the Dock Spiders 7:17. The Chucks want to put this devastating defeat behind them and play away against Fond Du Lac tomorrow at 6:35 p.m.

The Chucks return home on Sunday and Monday to play Green Bay for the first time in June. After Sunday’s game, the kids will run for the bases! Sunday’s game starts at 1:05 p.m. and Monday’s at 6:05 p.m.
