Suki Waterhouse talks about Robert Pattinson’s reaction to her famous ex-boyfriends and remembers the “intense” way they met

Suki Waterhouse talks about her relationship with her fiancé Robert Pattinson.

In an interview with British VogueThe 32-year-old actress and singer shares details about her relationship with the 38-year-old actor, including the adorable story of how they met.

Waterhouse reveals that she and the dusk The two stars first met six years ago at a star-studded game night in Los Angeles. Waterhouse describes it as “one of the things people do here to get together,” suggesting it was a typical social event in Hollywood circles, albeit with a star-studded guest list.

“I was sure I had met him a long time ago, but he didn’t believe it,” she says.

Waterhouse describes the atmosphere as “very, very intense” and there were “a lot of ‘big’ characters, real heavyweights” in attendance. She specifically mentioned Al Pacino, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz as participants, adding that “everyone really acted”.

The main activity of the evening was a game called Werewolf. Werewolf (also known as Mafia in some circles) is a party game where players are secretly assigned the role of villagers or werewolves and must determine who among them is a werewolf while the werewolves try to eliminate the villagers without getting caught.

“(We) started giggling at the absurdity of the whole thing,” Waterhouse tells the outlet. Their laughter became so disruptive that they were “sworn out” and an unnamed director separated them during the intense game.

Although they didn’t exchange numbers that night, Waterhouse said the encounter “started something. I find Rob quite funny, I light up when I’m around him.”

They reconnected months later, and Waterhouse noted that life in LA was “definitely a lot more fun” when she met Pattinson.

Although both stars had prominent relationships, Waterhouse said British Vogue that Pattinson is unfazed by her ex-boyfriends, even though she reflects on past heartbreaks in her music. She mentioned that her fiancé has “a lot of humor about that stuff.”

“He really didn’t give a damn,” said the Daisy Jones and the Six Star said. “He was like, ‘Nobody’s better than me, so what the heck.'” Waterhouse, whose former partners include Diego Luna, Miles Kane and Bradley Cooper, also made a rare comment that appeared to reference her split from Cooper. The two were together from 2013 to 2015.

“I would say I’m pretty strong now, but when something very public happens to you and the story behind it is dark and difficult, and you’re not really OK and you can’t explain yourself to the world, it’s very isolating and disorienting,” she admitted. “It probably took me a decade to get over myself and actually achieve that expansion in my life.”

The actress and musician added that she has come a long way since the romances of early adulthood.

“The 20s are pretty sadistic,” she said of her past relationships. “The love I experienced (back then) was always just a fetishization, and I think if you’re only loved in that way, you’re just punished. When you get into your 30s, you’re almost immediately shown a little more respect. It’s kind of delightful and shocking at the same time.”

In March, Waterhouse and Pattinson had their first child, a daughter. The young mother praised Pattinson’s calm demeanor during the birth and described him as “the father I could have wished for.”

Waterhouse — who featured her newborn daughter on the cover of British Vogue‘s August 2024 issue – adding that she and Pattinson had planned the pregnancy, saying, “One day we looked at each other and said, ‘Well, we can’t get that far.'”

The Batman The star was recently in Paris, France, where he attended the Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2025 menswear show and spoke to other event attendees about his daughter.

In a clip posted on X (formerly Twitter)Pattinson marveled at fatherhood, explaining: “You feel very old and very young at the same time.”

“She’s so sweet,” Pattinson said, smiling. “I’m amazed at how quickly her personality comes out. After just three months, I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, I can already see who she is.’ It’s incredible. It’s great.”

Pattinson and Waterhouse have been together since July 2018. In December a source confirmed to ET that they are engaged. “They are incredibly happy and are looking forward to their future together as a couple and family.”

The couple officially announced the birth of their daughter in April. Daisy Jones and the Six The star posted the first photo of the new addition to the family on Instagram. In the ethereal Polaroid picture, Waterhouse posed for the camera while holding the swaddled newborn in his arms.

“Welcome to the world, angel ❤️,” she wrote under the picture.

Waterhouse later announced the gender of her baby during her performance at Coachella in April – her first performance since giving birth.

“I don’t know if some of you know, but there have been some big changes in my life recently, some pretty big events have happened,” Waterhouse said, referring to the birth of her and Pattinson’s first child in a video shared on social media. “I love great ladies and I was very lucky to have my own little great lady and to meet the love of my life.”

In January, ET spoke with Waterhouse at the Emmy Awardswhere she showed off her baby bump under a beautiful red dress, which she addressed in the interview.

“It was really difficult to put this dress together,” Waterhouse said at the time. “They really had to take it apart and redesign it to make it fit, because a lot of fittings I was just holding (my stomach) and just thinking, ‘Oh, this is beautiful,’ but it didn’t seem like it was going to work.”
