We stayed at the Club Level at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and here is our experience

On our last trip to Walt Disney World, we were officially sprinkled with “fairy dust,” and I was so excited I almost cried. For those of you who have no idea what that means, let me explain. Many people think of fairy dust as the magical powder that gives you the ability to fly, but this form of fairy dust is quite different. It is often used to refer to anything magical that is gifted to you or your family during your trip to Walt Disney World. In this case, our fairy dust came in the form of a room upgrade—but not just a room upgrade—namely an upgrade to a club-level suite at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. I still can not believe it!

I’ve been visiting Walt Disney World since I was five years old and I’ve heard stories of people who have experienced this magic, but I’ve never been able to experience it for myself – until now. The best part was that I was able to experience it during a media trip with two of my friends/colleagues as we prepared to be the first to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (the attraction is incredible and now open, by the way!). It was truly a jaw-dropping few days at the most magical place on Earth.

So what is it like to stay on the club level? Well, it’s just incredible.

Accommodation
First, let me say that there is not a single bad room at the Disney Contemporary Resort. You will experience first-class service in extremely comfortable rooms just minutes from the parks.

The suite we stayed in was in the garden wing overlooking the water. We saw the boats coming and going from the pier, had a good view of the pool, and could see the water parade every night. It passed right in front of our balcony! Speaking of balconies, these balconies are not designed for walking outside. They all have sliding doors (our suite had three) that only open to let in fresh air, so if you’re traveling with young children, this can give you peace of mind!

The incredible view from the suite!

Our suite featured two entrances, two bathrooms with all the necessary toiletries, a walk-in closet, a bedroom, a living area, a kitchen and plenty of storage space. There were comfy robes with matching slippers, a kitchen table with a fully stocked refrigerator (not to mention the coffee and tea station), a single-sized sleeper chair and a queen-sized sleeper sofa. There was definitely no shortage of comfort here!

The only downside to the room was that it was very far from the elevator. We were right next to a staircase, which was perfect for us, but if you wanted to comfortably carry your own luggage, you had to walk quite a bit to get to the elevator.

Club experience
If Club Level was within my budget, I would stay here every time. My family and I have always been the biggest fans of Art of Animation and Pop Century (hello, Skyliner!), so experiencing Club Level in a luxury resort was amazing!

After being shocked to learn that we were allowed to visit the 12th floor of the resort’s Main Tower, we decided to check it out. Jamie, who we met at the front desk, escorted us to the floor. However, she already knew exactly who we were, which was amazing?! Jamie was amazing and showed us around the atrium which had one of the best views always on the grounds of Disney World – photos don’t do it justice, but here’s an attempt…

Pictures never do this view justice. This is the view from the 12th floor of the Club Level at Disney Contemporary Resort.

One of the many benefits of the view and the Club Level is that the resort filters in the music and sounds of Magic Kingdom’s nightly fireworks, so you can watch the show from the balcony while enjoying a delicious dessert at dessert hour.

And that brings us to the food. The food was incredible. On the club level you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. Drinks, including alcoholic beverages, are available throughout the day. There is a water vending machine that provides you with room temperature water, ice water or sparkling water and an espresso machine with a selection of syrups to make your coffee the way you like it. A highlight for me was the POG juice they had every morning in a vending machine right when you walk in.

We weren’t kidding when we said we wanted to try everything…which should explain the sushi on the same plate as potato pancakes. The blue drink was a welcome soft drink made of Powerade and lemonade. I wish I could remember the names of the other delicacies!

We wanted to try everything, so we did, and everything was delicious. The fruits and vegetables were fresh. The scrambled eggs and corn porridge were cooked to perfection. The main dishes were also just the right portion size. One night we tried the bread with butter, and it was the best I’ve ever had. I’m not sure what butter it was, but it was just amazing. We had a wide variety of food every time we visited.

Since you don’t have to worry about meals for your entire stay, staying at the club level is worth it. You know your food is taken care of for your entire stay, and you don’t have to worry about reservations or spending a lot of money at the parks. The only downside to this is that if you want to sit down to eat, you’ll have to drive back to the resort at specific times so you don’t miss the times that food is served. However, if you’re driving back for a midday nap anyway, this could work perfectly.

transport
While transportation doesn’t offer a huge advantage due to staying at the Club Level, it must be mentioned how convenient it is to stay at a monorail resort. While staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you’ll be within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom. You can take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, or take the bus to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Whatever you choose, you’ll have only a short wait between your resort and the magic!

What really blew my mind was that after watching Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios, we made it to our bus stop and found a seat on the bus. Usually after such a popular show and when everyone leaves the park at closing, the lines for the bus are long and often times they fit as many people as possible on the bus, meaning you may have to stand on the return trip. Well, not at this resort…or at least during this stay. We shared a bus with Disney’s Fort Wilderness, but that just intrigues me even more because everyone still had a seat, the bus had seats available, and we didn’t have to wait!

Overall, Club Level was an incredible experience and I now recommend it to everyone I know.

You might be wondering how we managed to get this amazing room and be chosen as one of the lucky ones to be dusted with fairy dust. To put it simply, we have no idea, but that’s what makes it so magical. There’s no method to get this experience; it just has to happen. Unfortunately, asking for it doesn’t work either, so have a little faith and trust, and you might just experience a little fairy dust!
