M. Night Shyamalan talks about “Trap,” a thriller by Taylor Swift

For his upcoming psychological thriller starring Josh Harnett, M. Night Shyamalan has taken a path he has never taken before visually: a concert. But not just a concert with any headliner, but one with Taylor Swift in mind.

During an interview with Richthe filmmaker spoke about his film proposal, asking the question: “What if ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ took place at a Taylor Swift concert?”

Although Swift did not appear in the film, which premieres on August 2, 2024, the concert took place in Catch is being held so that the police can arrest a serial killer known as “The Butcher.” As Shyamalan told RichThe film was based on 1985’s “Operation Flagship,” in which fugitives were lured by the U.S. Marshalls to attend an NFL game and promised an all-expenses-paid trip to the Super Bowl. “It was hilarious,” said Shyamalan Rich about the strategy. “The cops were literally cheerleaders and mascots. These guys were dancing when they came in. And they all got caught. It was so crazy and funny.”

For the film, Shyamalan cast his daughter Saleka as pop star Lady Raven, as the 27-year-old is also a singer-songwriter.

“I conducted an entire concert! And it wasn’t just a background thing. It’s just as important. There’s no fake concert,” he continued. “I love the idea of ​​the cinema as a window within windows. One of the reasons to see the film in the cinema is because there’s literally a real concert that you can’t see anywhere else but in this film.”
