Ann Wilson cancels upcoming performances after undergoing surgery to remove cancer.

In a Instagram post On Tuesday, the 74-year-old lead singer of Heart announced that she would undergo chemotherapy on the advice of her doctors and would take time off in the second half of the year to rest and recover from treatment.

“I recently had surgery to remove something that turned out to be cancerous,” Ann said. “The surgery was successful and I feel great, but my doctors are now recommending preventative chemotherapy and I’ve decided to do that.”

The message was typed and posted instead of a photo, while Ann chose to leave the caption blank.

She continued, “And that’s why my doctors are instructing me to stay off the stage for the rest of the year to fully recover. To ticket buyers: I really wish we could do these performances. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is sorting out those details and we will let you know the plan as soon as possible.”

Before the cancellation, the group – which also includes Nancy Wilson, Ryan Waters, Ryan Wariner, Paul Moak, Tony Lucido and Sean T Lane – had planned to tour Europe throughout the summer and make about 30 stops in the US through December to support their Royal Flush Tour.

In her post on Tuesday, Ann told her followers that she sees the cancellation as more of a postponement. “This is just a break. I have a lot more singing to do,” she continued, thanking her fans for their support and asking for privacy during this time.

The announcement comes after the band Announced in mid-May that they would cancel their European shows so Wilson could undergo a “time-sensitive but routine” procedure. It is unclear if this is the same surgery that discovered the cancer and what procedure she underwent.

At the time, she shared Heart’s announcement in a separate post, apologizing for the inconvenience and assuring her fans that she would be fine.

“Please don’t worry,” Ann wrote in the caption. “I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It is certainly an inconvenience for me. Love and respect always, Ann.”
