Michigan City ranks first in the ranking of best-educated cities

It is a great honor to be named the most educated city in America. One city in Michigan can boast more about its knowledge than any other, as a comprehensive study found it to be the most educated city in the entire country.

It probably won’t come as a big surprise, but WalletHub’s study found that Ann Arbor, home of the University of Michigan, deserves the top spot.

The Ann Arbor, Michigan, metropolitan area is the most educated metropolitan area in the country: Over 95% of adults ages 25 and older have at least a high school diploma, over 57% have a bachelor’s degree, and over 30% have an advanced degree—all of which are the highest rates in the country.

Ann Arbor also has the 18th best public school system.

The University of Michigan is consistently recognized as one of the best public universities in terms of quality of education. With many graduates finding a suitable home in Ann Arbor, it is understandable that the desire for a well-rounded and excellent education is fostered in the community.

While Ann Arbor outperformed the rest of the country, other Michigan cities landed in different positions on the list, which includes the 150 most populous cities in America.

The Lansing/East Lansing region came in next, coming in at 42nd place. Grand Rapids was not far behind at 67th place.

The Detroit metropolitan area also performed well in the study, coming in at number 80 overall. It should be noted that this ranking is more likely due to the collective educational level of the adult population, as the quality of education in the region is among the worst in the country, ranking 130th.

Flint had the lowest ranking among eligible cities in Michigan at 127th. Notable cities that Flint outperformed nationally include Las Vegas, Mobile, Rockford, Illinois, and Fresno.
