Board-certified dermatologist Elyse Love wears many hats. In addition to being a wife and mother, she also works as a full-time skin care professional at New York City skin care center GlamDerm. Love also uses her knowledge and expertise as a dermatological consultant for Bluemercury, providing feedback on product development for the retailer’s private label brands and services.

Outside of the practice, the dermatologist is one half of the BeautyCurious Podcast team, where she talks beauty trends and debunks common myths with celebrity aesthetician Ian Michael Crumm. And to round out her extensive personal and professional resume, Love also describes herself as an avid fitness enthusiast, regularly making time to watch a streaming workout and even running the New York City Marathon. twice“I do it once a week when I’m feeling disciplined or on vacation,” she says of her favorite online Pilates classes. “The exercises are really so calming and yet somehow give me the best abs ever.”

bazaar We caught up with the expert to learn more about her daily beauty and wellness routines. From repriseing Mrs. Knowles-Carter to wearing skin-loving no-makeup makeup looks, here’s a closer look at how Elyse Love takes the edge off.

What are you reading or listening to these days?

I listen to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carterof course. I was also on a reading tour and am currently How to get to know someone: The art of seeing others deeply and being seen deeply by David Brooks.

What bath or shower products do you like to use the most?

I find that the shower experience is so often overlooked when it comes to getting and maintaining hydrated, smooth skin. In the warmer months, I love using Aēsop’s Geranium Leaf Body Exfoliator for smooth skin and invigorating scents. The most important step is to moisturize the skin immediately after showering. I change moisturizers frequently, but Eucerin Advanced Repair is currently my favorite. It deeply hydrates and is easy and quick to apply. I also love Nécessaire’s body cream.

What beauty or personal care products do you regularly use to combat Zoom fatigue?

Computer screens can increase early signs of aging and even contribute to hyperpigmentation, so a multitasking product like Mother Science Retinol Synergist is a blessing. It’s an all-in-one antioxidant, pigment regulator, and collagen stimulator that fights all signs of aging.

Do you have a favorite hand sanitizer, soap or cream at the moment?

Yes! It’s very important to me. I have Dove’s Deep Moisture hand soap and hand sanitizer all over my house. I developed hand eczema during my pregnancy and changing my hand soap and hand sanitizer completely cleared it up. I also have a light hand moisturizer along with the cleanser – right now it’s CeraVes Therapeutic Hand Cream.

Are you into bold makeup, no makeup, or makeup without makeup at the moment?

I’m all about a very clean, natural face that shows off my skin with a hint of red or plum lip. I don’t like the feeling of smothering my skin with makeup, so I can have some fun with it and let my skin breathe. I also find it’s a very low-maintenance look. My favorite products are Dior’s Forever Skin Glow, Chanel’s Water Fresh Tint Les Beiges, Ilia’s Multi-Stick, and YSL Beauty’s Couture Velvet Cream Matte Liquid Lipstick.

What was the last fitness class you streamed or attended in person?

I have a trainer, Daryl Gregory, who I see up to three times a week depending on my schedule. My schedule is pretty hectic with a nine-month-old and work, so it’s nice not having to plan workouts. My favorite streaming workout is B the Method by Lia Bartha. Pilates is an incredible workout in general, but Lia’s method is unique and really, really works without harming your body.

What self-care advice would you give our readers?

I recently became a mother and it has been a truly amazing experience, but it is nonstop. I usually keep my son with me when I am not in the office. One of my friends convinced me to take him to daycare for half a day and now I have to pass on this message to you: if you have the opportunity, take your children to daycare for a few hours at least once in a while. Ideally you would get a massage, but honestly it was relaxing just to have a few hours to watch TV, answer emails and clean.
