Simone Biles and SZA battle for the best handstand as the singer nostalgically reflects on her past as a gymnast

Before she became a Grammy winner, SZA dreamed of being a gymnast, but switched to music “when it was clear” she wasn’t going to be a “national gymnast” but still needed an outlet “to be competitive.” She described singing as a “hidden talent.”

SZA then practiced her handstand form while Biles excitedly cheered her on, “That’s good!” while clapping and squealing.

When the competition actually began, SZA almost knocked Biles over a few times, but it was all done with love. This was just the first part of the women sharing their shared love of the sport, as the video ended with “To be continued.”

The CTRL The singer previously spoke about her gymnastics past with Complex in 2013. “I was a gymnast for 13 years, so I was very into sports. I gave it all my attention. I was really good at sports and was captain of my team. I was hardcore USA Gymnastics,” she said.

SZA also credited her athletic career with expanding her musical influence, which made her the superstar she is today, despite her conservative upbringing.
