The Red Clay Strays release new song “Drowning”

Today, The Red Clay Strays released their brand new single “Drowning.” Their new album “Made by These Moments” will be released on July 26th on RCA Records.

Written by guitarist Drew Nix, “Drowning” is a vulnerable cry for help in a time of mental and emotional difficulty. Looking back on the song, he explains: “In 2021, I was driving 10-12 hours a day for Uber and barely making ends meet. My wife Laurie Anne was taking on most of the bills at the time because she had a steady job and we were mostly still unemployed. I was really only making just enough to pay rent. I remember the words and tune “I’m drowning” popping into my head as I drove to the gas station to pay for the gas I needed for Uber at the time. Debt was piling up and I was also trying to save up for a ring at the time. Even though I knew everything would be OK in time, it felt like I was treading water for as long as I could. Everything is much better now and I thank God every day that we don’t have to struggle like that anymore. If you feel like you’re drowning, talk to someone, there is help out there. And if God sends you a boat, take it.”

Produced by Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell) and recorded at Cobb’s Georgia Mae in Savannah, Made by These Moments is filled with the band’s signature genre-bending sound, which combines electric rock and roll with Southern soul. In these eleven tracks, The Red Clay Strays explore fundamental elements of human existence and reflect on faith, love and redemption.
