Nicole Martinez-LeGrand, curator of multicultural collections at the Indiana Historical Society (IHS), discussed with us two important books published by IHS Press: Hoosier Latinos: A Century of Struggle, Service and SuccessS And Asian American Voices in Indiana.

Both books tell the stories of Indiana’s Asian and Latino communities, covering over a century of history.

These books will be valuable to members of these communities and to anyone who wants to learn more about their contributions and experiences in Indiana.

These books explore the long and rich history of Indiana’s Asian and Latino communities, highlighting their struggles, service, and successes over the years.

They are written to inform community members and people outside of those communities and to promote understanding and appreciation of different cultures and histories.

The Indiana Historical Society published these books to highlight the important contributions of the Asian and Latino communities in Indiana.

“In terms of Latinos, it’s a very diverse community. Throughout Latin America, Mexico and South America, we’re all commonly referred to as Spanish, so both books try to highlight the differences and diversity here in Indiana,” Martinez-LeGrand said.

These stories are often underrepresented in mainstream history textbooks and IHS wanted to give them the attention they deserve.

What sets these books apart from other history books is their special focus on the experiences of Indiana’s Asian and Latino residents.

They contain personal stories, photographs and detailed reports that bring the history to life.

They are written in an accessible manner so that they are easy for everyone to read and understand.

The research for these books took several years and included collecting stories, photographs and historical documents from various sources.

This thorough research ensures that the books provide a comprehensive and accurate representation of the communities’ history.

The book covers feature images that reflect the themes and stories in the book, designed to draw attention and invite readers to learn more about the rich history.

The images in the books come from a variety of sources, including personal family collections, community archives, and historical societies.

These images bring the stories to life and create a visual connection to the past.

These books from the Indiana Historical Society Press are great resources for anyone interested in the diverse history of Indiana’s communities.

They celebrate the contributions and experiences of Indiana’s Asian and Latino residents and ensure that their stories are remembered and honored.
