Leonardtown honors Brice Trossbach one year after his death

LEONARDTOWN, Maryland – Last Thursday, the community gathered to remember Brice Trossbach, a dedicated firefighter who was tragically killed in the line of duty on June 27, 2023. The wreath laying ceremony marked the one-year anniversary of his death and was held at the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD). The event attracted hundreds of attendees and reflected the profound impact Brice had on those around him.

Brice Trossbach, 25, has been part of the LVFD family since childhood, often accompanying his father, Warren Trossbach, a lifelong member of the LVFD, to the station. Brice joined the LVFD as a probationary member at age 16 and became a full member at age 18. His commitment to firefighting was demonstrated by his service with the Leonardtown and Bay District Volunteer Fire Departments.

The wreath laying was a poignant moment where community members, fellow firefighters and Brice’s family paid their final respects. This ceremony was a testament to Brice’s dedication and the deep loss felt by those who knew him. A memorial bench at Leonardtown Wharf, designed and crafted to honor Brice’s legacy, was also unveiled and provides a lasting tribute to his service and sacrifice.

Brice’s death has left a huge void in the community, but his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. As the community continues to mourn, it also celebrates the selfless service and dedication that Brice embodied. “We ask that the public respect the privacy of the Trossbach family as they grieve,” noted a spokesperson for the LVFD.
