Mason Graham snubbed as Michigan football players named preseason All-Americans

Preseason All-American teams are published by all sorts of publications. Phil Steele is one of the big names, but so is Walter Camp, a publication that has been publishing an All-American team for 135 years.

The Michigan football team was well represented on the team, as it was on all of the preseason All-American teams, but Mason Graham was again not selected for the first team.

Will Johnson, the standout cornerback, was one of the Michigan football players selected as a first-team All-American, as was tight end Colston Loveland. Mason Graham, who also failed to make the first-team All-American on Phil Steele’s team, was selected to the second team.

There are a lot of great players out there, and nothing against Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, but I think Mason Graham is the best defensive tackle in college football. Some have suggested he would have been the first defensive tackle taken off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft had he been eligible.

Graham can do it all and that’s what makes him so dominant. He can be a nose tackle as well as a top-notch pass rusher inside. He also has a tendency to blow things up, like he did in overtime against Alabama. The Tide has first-and-goal and on the second attempt Graham stops them, putting them in a big loss.

That changed everything on that drive and put the Michigan football players in position to make the stop to win the game. Ultimately, those preseason All-American teams mean nothing. But they could motivate Mason Graham, who took notice on social media when Pro Football Focus rated Ohio State’s D-line as better than Michigan’s.

Regardless, I can’t wait to see him in action and like every other Michigan football fan, I wouldn’t trade him for any defensive tackle in the country.
