Fantasy Baseball Value Picks Today: Top DraftKings MLB DFS Bargains for July 2

Fantasy Baseball Value Picks Today: Top DraftKings MLB DFS Bargains for July 2

After a loose Monday game, Major League Baseball’s July schedule begins Tuesday night with all 30 teams in the field. Four games are on the early schedule, leaving 11 games to fill the Tuesday night main schedule on DraftKings. Games on that main schedule begin at 7:05 p.m. ET, when the Reds visit the Yankees in the first game of the night. The other 10 games on the schedule include three divisional games, including the final game of the night between the Dodgers and DBacks in Los Angeles. The other particularly notable game for fantasy baseball purposes is the Rockies-Brewers clash, taking place in the thin air of Coors Field, where the teams combined for 27 hits and 15 runs in Monday’s series opener.

With 22 teams available, there are plenty of options to consider when putting together your fantasy lineups this Tuesday. There are several big stars at great positions, but you’ll need to carefully manage your salary cap space to afford the big names you want to include. Getting the right cheap value plays is crucial to fantasy success, and there are some great low-salary options available this Tuesday. Let’s take a closer look at my three favorite bargain plays of the day:

Soriano is expected to return from the 15-day IL after spending the minimum amount of time on the bench after missing a few rounds in the rotation due to an abdominal infection. Before his hiatus, the 25-year-old right-hander was putting together a solid season for the Angels and seemed to be hitting his stride. Overall, he is 4-5 with a 3.48 ERA, 3.91 FIP and 7.5 K/9, but in his last six starts, he has a 2.77 ERA and 3.57 FIP with at least five strikeouts in four of those six games. He also pitched at least six innings in each of his last five games and was very efficient, never reaching 100 pitches. One of his best starts of the season was his last one, away at Arizona. He pitched until the ninth inning and allowed just two runs on five hits, posting 23.8 DKFP and his fourth win of the season. He may only have to throw a small number of pitches after his time off, but his efficiency and the fact that it wasn’t an arm issue should still make him a productive fantasy option at this salary. While Soriano doesn’t typically have outstanding strikeout potential, he brings high potential in this favorable matchup against the Athletics. The A’s have the second-highest K% in MLB and the third-lowest team batting average this season. Oakland also has the second-highest K% and second-lowest team batting average over the last 30 days. Oakland has scored fewer runs than any other team this season in those 11 games, averaging just 3.6 runs per game. The matchup should be a good time for Soriano upon his return, so take advantage of this great opportunity to get one of the Angels’ most reliable starters at an injury discount and low expected ownership.

OF Willie Calhoun, Los Angeles Angels at Oakland Athletics, 3,000 US dollars

The Angels’ lineup also has some good values to offer in this AL West matchup. They were actually on a quiet six-game winning streak before losing on Sunday and will look to get back on track in this favorable spot in the Bay. Calhoun has been batting in the heart of the batting order, and the left-hander has provided some nice power during the Halos’ recent surge. He has six hits in his last six games, including three doubles and a home run, while batting 6-for-15 (.400) with a .547 wOBA. Calhoun has a .323 wOBA and a solid .281 batting average this season. To start this series, Calhoun and the Angels will face off. Mitch Spence ($6,600)which they scored six runs in five games 23 innings in his last start. Spence has allowed 18 runs in 30 innings in his last five starts and has allowed left-handed batters to bat .289 against him this season, with a wOBA of .348. Calhoun should be a solid source of salary savings and productivity in this matchup at just $3,000.

Rice is another left-hander who has a great matchup this Tuesday and has an even lower salary. He will face Graham Ashcraft ($6,800) at Yankee Stadium, and Ashcraft has allowed 18 runs in 19 innings over his last four starts, including four home runs. They’ll definitely want some insight into the Yankees’ high-powered lineup, as Ashcraft has allowed 45 home runs in his 58 career MLB starts. Rice is a great way to get some exposure on the Yankees without paying a hefty price tag. The rookie has a .273 batting average with two doubles, six walks and four runs scored in his 12 games since being called up. He had 15 DKFP on Sunday, the best fantasy performance of his young career. Rice spent the majority of this season in Double-A with a brief stint in Triple-A before being invited up to replace the injured Anthony Rizzo (forearm). In 60 minor league games, he has hit a total of 15 home runs while having a .275 batting average with a .925 OPS. He has also stolen nine bases in ten attempts, so there is some speed potential in his power profile as well, making him a very strong option with good upside for just $2,500.
